Beaten to The Punch

My wife’s youtube channel achieved a major milestone – monetization.

Which means that her youtube channel beat my blog in terms of income. Hahaha…

Well, it’s not her complete win, you know? I did help out. That milestone was achieved with the help of some blogging skills that I have picked up over the years – attention-grabbing titles, images relevant to the post, and a nice description. It also helps to know Search Engine Optimization so your content will be found by people looking for it.

Well, while my Redbubble shop is still raking in a few sales here and there, I still am ahead in terms of internet income. 😅

I Got Scammed. I Did Not Think This Could Happen To Me – But It Did

I got baited to a scam, and fed them my credit card details.

Everything happened so fast, I’m happy that I somehow began digging as soon as I hit the “Process Order” Button. However, it might be too late.

How to Withdraw Money From Paypal Outside USA

In my previous post, I lamented the way Paypal won’t give me my money. I did mention there that I was still waiting for the response from their customer service, and I got my reply from them today (October 17, 2019).

Their message lifted my fears, and showed me how I could possibly withdraw my money from paypal.

Paypal Won’t Give Me My Money

My redbubble sales rolled in my paypal last Tuesday, on the 15th.

I have been looking forward to this today, because, well, bills got to get paid.

While the money I get from my online shop is tiny, the small amount I get is still a big help in my financial situation.

The minimum payout from redbubble is almost enough to cover a month’s electric bill, or a week’s worth of gas. Like I said, it’s not that large.

Withdrawing funds from paypal is subject to a processing fee. To minimize the cost, I take out funds when the levels are high enough. Generally, that’s when my redbubble payments come in each month (when I’m lucky enough that my sales reach the threshold.) My ko-fi account also is linked to my paypal.

I was looking forward to this day because I knew I met Redbubble’s minimum payout, and I got some bills to pay. The additional funds will be like a breath of fresh air in a claustrophobic situation.

I hurried to paypal when I saw the notification email… and proceeded to transfer the entire amount to my bank. However, my world crashed in on me when I saw this notification error…

Hello, how are you doing? Welcome back.

Today, I thought I’d talk about the things that I have learned from being a blogger.

If you’re new here, I highly suggest that you please subscribe. Why? I really don’t know, but I do get a good feeling whenever I get notifications in wordpress. 🙂

Anyway, let’s get on with today’s post. Continue reading “What I Learned From Blogging”

Can You Be an Expert of None?

It’s a trend that I have been seeing with a lot of successful Internet personalities – their success is anchored on an expertise.

Which got me thinking… In the age that we are living in, are we supposed to be specialized in a single task to be successful?

Will there be any success for the jack-of-all-trades out here, who are, unfortunately, masters of none?

Incoming Milestone!

Hello everyone.

Screenshot_2019-06-07 People ‹ Jomz Ojeda’s Blog — WordPress com

As I’m writing this, I have 96 followers. It’s not much compared to most of you big-shots with thousands of followers, but for me, who have only started focusing on growing this blog sometime late last year, my first one hundred followers would be a big milestone.

Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone who have decided to follow and subscribe to my humble blog. I hope I can continue to educate, entertain and not disappoint you guys too much. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

I originally did not know what to do, write or post on this site. I literally had no direction. No direction, means no growth, and that’s exactly what happened. This blog had almost no growth in the past few years.

Then I realized I want to be a full-fledged writer. To be a writer, I must, therefore, write. Where do I write? I thought about that for a while. I thought that blogging must have fallen out of the mainstream’s radar probably due to micro-blogging and social media. It was a dying thing, I thought.

I could not have been so wrong!

WordPress won’t stop emailing me things

I went to settings, unchecked that option that allows wordpress to send e-mails for stuff going on, but it still keeps sending me email notification for comments and things I made to other blogs.

I like being notified of these things, but I don’t want my email being cluttered with wordpress stuff. It’s a mess already as it is… And besides, if I want to be notified of wordpress stuff, I’d check the wordpress website.

I could just ignore it, and let it go… But it’s bugging me…

So, does anybody know how to disable the email notifications for replies and likes in comments I made in other blogs?

Thanks, and have a nice day.

Can Any Skill be Monetized?

Passion can be a good fuel for motivation, and when it comes to making money, motivation could use a bit more passion as fuel to the fire.

Have you ever thought about how a seemingly useless skill you have can be a sort of income?

When I was a kid, people around me have sort of drilled in my head the notion that artists cannot make a decent living.  Income would be hard for them.  I  believed them, and so, took up a course in business. I never thought that one could earn a good income from drawing, painting or graphic arts.

However, it would seem that the mind-molding I experienced was wrong, and one could definitely earn a good income from the arts. They could earn income from clients who commission their work, from writing books about how to draw or make art-related things, and even earn income from teaching.  I have also seen artists make income from youtube videos.

So the question is, can any skill be a source of income?

What about being very good at video games? Yes, of course you can. With the right amount of followers, and the right skill at being a showman, you can earn an income from being a gamer by streaming your games, or at least uploading an entertaining video online.

What about a skill which involves doing absolutely nothing for long periods of time? This sounds tricky, but if you can stand still or hold a pose for a very long time, you could work as an artist’s model, or even be one of those living statues.

What about watching television shows or movies? That seems like a hobby which could not be monetized, right? Of course not! There are websites and channels that cater to reviewing tv shows, movies, cartoons, and anime. By sharing their insights and deep knowledge of the media, they gain a following, which in turn is a source of income for these reviewers.

Good at matching outfits, to the point where your friends and family members call on you for advice? Fashion consultant.

Have a knack for arranging furniture and beautifying rooms? Interior decorator.

What may seem like a useless activity can be turned to a profitable venture. However, this greatly depends on the individual and their perspective of their skill. A unique combination of skills can prove valuable if marketed right.

It all boils down to marketing and targeting an audience through the way you package your skill and the means by which you deliver them to your target market. How to monetize your skill would probably warrant another post in the future, so do keep an eye out for that by subscribing.

Is there any seemingly useless skill or activity that would make a good source of income? Let’s talk about it in the comments.

See you next time, and have a nice day.
