I like using textures in my works. Does it show a bit with the way I design or choose designs? A slight hint of texture goes a long way in giving a work depth and character.
Seeing these more than 30 web designs that used textures and the way they used and placed them made me think of how I can use textures more interestingly.
Below are a random selection of the designs that took my interest.
The texture gave Clickfarm’s site a more earthy feel. It does look more like a farm, doesn’t it? The clean content just seems to pop right out.
The texture on this site is barely visible. The background uses a color that is just slightly darker than the theme’s, giving the site a clean and simple feel to it.
Watch your head! What really caught my attention on this one was the deer-head man. But then my sight expanded to its environment… and its surreal world of floating stuff and perspective is revealed to be full of textures, making it seem “real”.

Sometimes, I wonder what I will start posting in here once I finish designing the page…
Hopefully, my writing skills will be sharpened by what information I share in here, and that I don’t neglect my main page…
I am happy to see that my banner seems to fit well with the theme background. I am enjoying the overall feel of the theme. It does not overwhelm the text content, nor highlight the text too much. It even makes me want to re-design my main page… heh.
What do you think of it? I hope you guys like it. 🙂
Like a kid with a new toy, I seem to be enjoying this…
Now, I am not new to the WordPress features, but there are some limits and a lot of differences to the self-hosted wordpress blog. Well, the major drawback for me was my webhost. I think I need to save up more for it to have a better experience.

Is it a clone? Is it a mirror? No… It’s Mauru’s Realm Lite.
Welcome, everyone to Mauru’s Realm Lite. Originally, my main blog is self hosted at http://jomz.freehostia.com, where it got more features and stuff. Hey, I maintain it as my personal portfolio, after all.
However, seeing how a “free” domain doesn’t get much traffic, I guess my ideas don’t reach much audience… So I figured, since I like wordpress and its features, and I would also want to read comments, aside from spam comments in my blog post, I guess making one here is not a bad idea.
I guess I’ll just have to deal with some of the limits that a wordpress blog has, like the design and some menu options…
For now, I plan to tweak some visual settings. Having no plug-ins will take a little getting used to… Oh, well.
So, this is my first post for now… (*deletes the default first post*) and I’ll be seeing you all around.
