As I’m writing this, I have 96 followers. It’s not much compared to most of you big-shots with thousands of followers, but for me, who have only started focusing on growing this blog sometime late last year, my first one hundred followers would be a big milestone.

Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone who have decided to follow and subscribe to my humble blog. I hope I can continue to educate, entertain and not disappoint you guys too much. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

I originally did not know what to do, write or post on this site. I literally had no direction. No direction, means no growth, and that’s exactly what happened. This blog had almost no growth in the past few years.

Then I realized I want to be a full-fledged writer. To be a writer, I must, therefore, write. Where do I write? I thought about that for a while. I thought that blogging must have fallen out of the mainstream’s radar probably due to micro-blogging and social media. It was a dying thing, I thought.

I could not have been so wrong!

A Free Blog Will Do

Countless times, I have read that in order for a blogger to be able to make decent money off their blogs is that they need to have their own domain, and get their own web hosting service.

I have to agree with that.

There are a lot of limitations with a free hosting service.  If the subdomain name does not bother you, I bet the ability to place your own ads might. Here in wordpress.com, I learned that you cannot place google ads, so despite having a high traffic, you can’t monetize thru ads that way.

As for free webhosting, I have seen a lot, and have to say that finding a good free webhosting is tough. There are a lot of limits, and of course, there are some that places their own ads into your site. Truly, nothing is free. If you cannot pay for the service in cash, they charge you with ad space (or some other thing).

So far, this one website hosting service that I use is not bad. It supports wordpress – but does not support linking to some wordpress services like jetpack and akismet.  Well, at least I have a running blog there – but ads through adsense used to work, but in the past few years it seems to have been discontinued… I can’t really tell. But yeah, my self-hosted blog is no longer generating any ad impressions.

As much as I want to be a professional blogger of some sort, and earn any revenue off of my skills and knowledge, I guess I do not have the ability to invest in the necessary tools for the trade yet.

Well, perhaps somewhere down the road… But for now, this free service will do.
