My Process of Writing for NANOWRIMO. The Saga Continues

Hello, everyone, how are you all doing?

As always, I am procrastinating on writing my NANOWRIMO entry, so here I am crafting a blog post. Haha.

If only the words I type here could be added into my novel… anyway…

Let’s talk a bit about what is going on.

My novel writing is doing good, and running on schedule. I still have to write at least a thousand words today Continue reading “My Process of Writing for NANOWRIMO. The Saga Continues”

A Hard Hindrance to Success

My blog’s subscriber count was significantly reduced and I feel very frustrated.

It’s not like it was something I did… my wife saw my blog and the interactions I was doing as part of the work needed to grow it, and decided to purge it of female subscribers. She also went and unsubscribed me from them.

I am unsure how to handle this, and what to do, but frankly, I am feeling frustrated.

WordPress Theme Building: Like Riding a Bike?

I met up with a potential employer yesterday. It would seem I would be working on a web design for a big project. If my design is good, I will probably get the job.

The requirement is that I will have to develop a website using wordpress.org. Therefore, there are two things I need to do – make a design and create a theme using the design.

From my past experience with building a theme, I started with a skeleton theme and created the custom theme based on my design.

I haven’t done this in years, so there are at least two things I need to refresh on – php coding, and css coding.

However, most important of all, I need to create a design. I better stop procrastinating and get this working.

So far, I managed to get an offline development server running and have installed a wordpress.org site on it. I finally managed to get it running after fifteen minutes of not being able to get the server to detect where I placed the wordpress folder… Then I realized I haven’t switched on the http server…

Whoops…

No wonder nothing was running.

Then I had to connect the database. That took a bit of time, mostly because I could not find the user settings…

Anyway, I really need to get this thing done. We got deadlines.

Later.

What Else Can I Do? Writing a Resume

Working on a resume is a mind-racking experience.

While it may seem that the process is easy and quick to do, there are some aspects of it that I find hard – most specially the listing of skills.

When applying for a job, the resume is the short summary of you as a person, and we use it as a way to present ourselves in a manner that hopefully our potential employer may see to be useful in their company. The basic information is easy. Our educational and personal background is mostly a copy-and-paste of every previous resume that we have made and written, regardless of who our employer is. But that is not what sells. Continue reading “What Else Can I Do? Writing a Resume”

The Worst Financial Decision I’ll Probably Make

I’m supposed to know these things. Financial literacy is my thing for it’s my line of work…

Unfortunately, I’ll be making a bad decision real soon, with the hopes of buying myself more time.

You see, to make ends meet and pay my loans as they fall due, I will be refinancing an existing loan so I could get the cash from that, and use the proceeds to pay off the monthly dues of some of my other loans.

Good grief.

What I Learned From Blogging

Hello, how are you doing? Welcome back.

Today, I thought I’d talk about the things that I have learned from being a blogger.

If you’re new here, I highly suggest that you please subscribe. Why? I really don’t know, but I do get a good feeling whenever I get notifications in wordpress. 🙂

Anyway, let’s get on with today’s post. Continue reading “What I Learned From Blogging”

Getting Content Ideas for Blogging

Hello! Glad you could drop by. Today, I thought I’d touch on the subject of getting ideas for blogging content – or any other content creation that you may be in to, such as vlogs (which is practically blogging, but in video format).

Now, this is a topic best suited for new creators and bloggers. So, I humbly ask the experts who might stumble upon this blog to add anything that I missed. Let’s get started! Continue reading “Getting Content Ideas for Blogging”

Being Kicked When You’re Down

My goal for the past few months has been to survive.

There are things that happened in the past –  a bunch of things last year, actually, that made my living situation a bit critical. Therefore, I have to do what I can to survive.

Unfortunately, our dog fell ill suddenly. She’d been vomiting for three days already, and has been refusing to eat.

I first thought it might be nothing serious. Dogs tend to eat things, and then regurgitate it when they find that it might be bad for them. But she’s been vomiting, and not able to keep any food or liquid down.

We will have to take her to the vet later, and hope that it is nothing serious.

But seriously, though, I do not need any more of these things now. I am looking for solutions in my life, not more problems…

I don’t really feel like writing about these things, but I need an outlet, you know?

Last week, I was busy. I had to go out of town, to a nearby City for a seminar for two days. Nothing notable about it. It was just tiring. Haha… Well, the food was not bad, and the coffee was tolerable. So, I guess the ordeal was not that horrible.

I haven’t been in the mood for writing in a while, and there is that creeping feeling at the back of my mind that is telling me that I am being a lazy idiot for not working on my story. I just can’t seem to get myself to move the story forward. In any case, hopefully, by complaining about it here, I might get to thinking about it, and perhaps, slowly get to writing on it again! Hahaha…

Well, that’s all for now. See you around, and have a nice day.

A Busy Body, An Idle Mind

Hello! I’m glad that you could drop by.

I haven’t been able to post anything this week, mainly because I have been very busy, and nothing notable to post has surfaced from my head for the past few days. Well, there might be some, but the inner editor in me often objects.

Fortunate for me, as of the moment, blogging seems to be a productive output for my procrastination today. Heh.

I find that forming an article from thin air can be difficult to do when exhausted. Most often I’d rather sit in a corner doing nothing after a very long day. Then, there are times when I’m too exhausted that I’d fall asleep where I sat down.

The Importance of a Follow Button For WordPress Blogs

If you want to build your wordpress followers, remember this important thing – don’t make them go through hoops and make it as easy as possible.

I’m speaking here more as a web designer and developer, rather than as an experienced blogger. I mean, my blog does not have that large of a following, so take what I say with a grain of salt, if blog size is going to be one of your metrics.
