A Reason to Stop Trying

A writer needs an audience to be able to make a living out of his craft. He needs patrons to support him.

Without an audience, without readers, a writer’s endeavour might as well be a hobby.  Hobbies do not bring home the bacon.

Building an audience takes time and effort. Building an audience also needs support.

I’m afraid I don’t have any support at home for becoming a writer.  Some people do not understand that you need to connect with your audience to make them want to support you financially as an author. No great writer can be successful in his field if he does not have a good network of people to back him up, and help get his work out to the world.

I am trying to build my foundation, but I can’t seem to do it.
